1. Common problems in column construction

Reasons for occurrence
(1) Inaccurate construction layout; The spacing of the columns was not checked before installation, and there were stones in the roadbed soil, or there was deviation when encountering a water stable base layer.
(2) The construction layout was not accurate, and the position of the road surface edge line was not measured from the centerline of the road surface. The inner edge line of the pillars was directly measured from the road surface edge line.
(3)  Inaccurate construction layout and failure to control according to design standards. ② The selection of road reference objects is incorrect. ③ The measurement of the marking line was incorrect when the column was driven in.
Solution measures
(1) Strictly follow the standard layout, use column edge lines to set out the spacing between columns, adjust the position of the pile driver, frequently measure the verticality with a level, and adjust it in a timely manner if any inclination is found.
(2) When encountering stones or hard water that is stable and cannot be driven in, the method of drilling holes first and then driving piles can be used. When the guardrail cannot be driven in, a guardrail concrete foundation can be used.
(3)  The construction layout is strictly controlled according to the design standards.  When laying out, first measure the position from the centerline of the road surface to the edge line of the road surface, and then according to the dimensions on the drawing, measure the position from the edge line of the road surface
Measure the distance from the starting point to the inner edge of the column.  After drilling and driving the column, clean the drilling debris and backfill and compact it in a timely manner.

2. Common issues with guardrail installation
(1) The installation holes of the guardrail board are misaligned and cannot be installed properly, resulting in gas welding cutting holes and damaging the galvanized layer.
(2) The guardrail line is not straight and aesthetically pleasing.
(3) The height of the guardrail fluctuates, and the plane is linear and uneven.

(1) During the construction of guardrails, it is necessary to accurately grasp various ground wire pipelines and on-site data, especially the accurate positions of various pipelines buried in the roadbed. Collect pipeline drawings in advance to avoid damaging the ground

(2) When the column approaches depth, attention should be paid to controlling the frequency and force of hammering. When the column is driven too deep, it should not be pulled up and corrected. All columns should be pulled out, and then the foundation should be rebuilt

(3) When using a flange structure for guardrails in channels and culverts, attention should be paid to the positioning of the flange and the control of the elevation of the top surface of the columns; When using the reserved hole embedding method, it is necessary to pre install the top of each structure
Leave holes for precise layout, and use air picks or core machines to expand and deepen holes for inaccurate positions and elevations.?
(4) When the guardrail passes through a concealed culvert, the thickness of the filling soil on the culvert should be measured. If the filling soil thickness cannot meet the depth of the column, the column can be cut off, but the foundation of the column must be reinforced with mixed soil
